Whether you’re after proper fish and chips, Cromer crab, a relaxed pub meal, something a little more special or a great Thai dinner, there’s plenty to choose from — and most are just a short walk from Sandcliff.
No1 Cromer
If you’re visiting Cromer, fish and chips are almost compulsory — and No1 is one of our favourite places to get them. Located right by the pier, you can eat in the restaurant or grab your fish and chips to take away and enjoy them beside the sea.
Sandcliff says: If the weather is good, take your fish and chips down to the pier. It doesn’t get much more Cromer than that!
The Red Lion
A traditional pub overlooking Cromer Pier, The Red Lion is a great choice for a relaxed meal with a sea view. You’ll find Norfolk ales, good wines and a menu featuring plenty of familiar pub favourites alongside locally inspired dishes.
It’s also particularly welcoming to four-legged guests.
Sandcliff says: A great option for a relaxed pub meal, especially if you’re bringing the dog.

The Cliftonville
You really can’t get much more convenient than The Cliftonville — it’s right next door to Sandcliff!
The friendly team serves a varied menu of snacks, lunches and evening meals, with locally sourced ingredients featuring prominently. Their Sunday lunch is particularly popular.
Sandcliff says: If you don’t fancy walking anywhere after a busy day exploring Cromer, you can practically roll out of our front door and into The Cliftonville!
Friends Bistro
A firm favourite with locals and visitors alike, Friends Bistro offers a varied menu at reasonable prices, making it a great choice when everyone wants something slightly different.
It’s not open every day, so we recommend checking availability and booking ahead.
Sandcliff says: A great choice when you want something a little different without breaking the bank.

The Old Rock Shop Bistro
Right in the heart of Cromer, The Old Rock Shop Bistro is a popular choice for lunch and is particularly well known for its Norfolk sausage rolls and dishes featuring our famous local crab.
If you’re visiting Cromer and want to try Cromer crab, this is one to put on your list.
Sandcliff says: Come to Cromer for the crab — and make sure you actually eat some while you’re here!
Gibson’s Bistro
Gibson’s is one of our most popular all-round recommendations. This family-run bistro has a relaxed atmosphere and a menu with something for pretty much everyone, from wraps and lighter lunches to steaks and seafood in the evening.
It’s popular for good reason, so we recommend booking ahead, particularly during busy periods and carnival week.
Sandcliff says: One of our safest recommendations when you simply want somewhere good that will keep everyone happy.
Fino
If you’re looking for something a little more special, Fino is well worth considering.
It’s an intimate restaurant with a more refined feel, making it a lovely choice for a romantic dinner, special occasion or simply when you fancy treating yourselves.
They also offer attractive lunch options, making Fino worth considering outside the evening too.
Sandcliff says: Our choice when you fancy putting on something slightly smarter and making an evening of it.
Upstairs at No1
For the combination of good food and one of Cromer’s best views, Upstairs at No1 is hard to beat.
Overlooking the pier and beach, the restaurant offers a wide-ranging menu including seafood, meat, vegetarian dishes and the ever-popular British classic — fish and chips.
Sandcliff says: Book a window table if you can and enjoy dinner with Cromer Pier right outside.
Bann Thai
Fancy something completely different? Bann Thai is one of our favourite choices when you want to move away from traditional Norfolk fare.
The menu offers a great selection of Thai dishes, with plenty of choice whether you prefer beef, pork, chicken, seafood or vegetables — and, of course, varying levels of spice!
Sandcliff says: A great option when you’ve had enough fish and chips and fancy something with a bit more heat!

Spinnakers
For something a little more contemporary, Spinnakers is a relaxed café, bistro and restaurant on Meadow Road. The menu focuses on modern British food and café-style classics, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices.
Sandcliff says: A great choice for a relaxed lunch, with fresh food, plenty of choice and a slightly more sophisticated feel.
Yumy Yumy House
If you’re looking for something completely different from the usual Cromer seafood and pub options, Yumy Yumy house serves authentic Vietnamese food from its cosy restaurant on Church Street. Expect fresh, flavoursome dishes including summer rolls, noodles, rice dishes and Vietnamese baguettes, with vegetarian and vegan options available.
Sandcliff says: A real little gem and one of our favourite choices when you fancy something different. It’s small and popular, so we’d recommend booking ahead.
Our tip: book ahead
Cromer can get very busy during the summer, bank holidays, weekends and major events such as Cromer Carnival, so we strongly recommend booking a table wherever possible.
And if you’re staying with us and still can’t decide where to eat, just ask! We’re always happy to point you towards somewhere that suits you — whether you’re looking for fish and chips by the sea, a romantic meal, a family-friendly restaurant, a great pub or simply somewhere for a quick bite.
Enjoy Cromer — and enjoy your dinner!
